Disease resistant Victoria plum tree
Question:
Hi Is there such a thing as a canker/disease resistant form of Victoria Plum, or a similar but resistant variety? And if so do you sell them? Many thanks.

Answer:
That is a good question. Unfortunately Victoria is basically quite susceptible to fungal infections, but you can take some steps to reduce the risk. Firstly, don't prune the tree, or if you really have to, only prune it in the spring and keep the pruning to a minimum. Secondly, make sure you thin the fruitlets as they form in May - this will stop the tree over-producing, which leads to branches breaking, and diseases getting in.
You could also consider Reeves, which is similar but a bit less disease-prone.
