Espalier apple trees for north-west fence

Question:

I'm looking to purchase two Espalier apple trees to go on a North West facing fence which is 1.5 meters tall.  From my research I'm thinking about buying a russet and a Cox apple tree. This is the first time I've grown apples so can you confirm that these two varieties will pollinate each other. Also will they grow in a North West facing location?  Thanks for your help.

Answer:

A north west facing wall will not get much direct sunlight so early dessert varieties such as Katy or Scrumptious might be more suitable.  Most early or mid-season cooking apples such as Bountiful should also do well.
