Prunus rufa ornamental cherry trees

  • Flowering month: April
  • Blossom colour: Pink - light

Prunus rufa is commonly known as the Himalayan cherry, and is somewhat different in appearance from other flowering cherries. It is primarily grown for the interest of its peeling (exfoliating) bark. Semi-mature shoots have an attractive striation to the bark too, whilst very young shoots are down-covered.

The small flowers are a plain pink colour.
