Can you dispatch bare root stock now (early November)?
Question:
Can you dispatch bare root stock now (early November) as we are having mild weather or do we have to wait till January we are in Lincolnshire?

Answer:
Hi Hazel
Although autumn is a good time to order fruit trees I'm afraid it is too early to send bare-root trees at the moment - apple and pear trees in particular are still in full leaf.
It may seem counter-intuitive but the mild weather is actually a problem - fruit trees need cold weather, so December, January and February are usually the best time to plant.
