Apricot tree winter protection

Question:

I have an apricot tree in a pot. It is losing its leaves. Should I cover it up with some fleece to keep it warm through winter? It is facing the sun in the morning only.

Answer:

Apricot trees need to get properly cold at this time of year, so you do not need to keep it warm, quite the opposite.

However it is a good idea to insulate the pot (not the tree), and perhaps raise it off the ground and insulate underneath.
