Compacta apricot tree not fruiting
Question:
I have a Compacta apricot. This spring, its first year, there was a lot of flower but zero fruit. It was carefully screened against wind and cold. I know it is supposedly self-fertile but would another tree help fruit set, and if so, what?

Answer:
All apricots are self-fertile so another one is not necessary (although a different apricot variety nearby will certainly help). It is still a very young tree, and the blossom might have been damaged by an early frost or bad weather. Can you send a photo showing the whole tree and the ground around it? Note that next spring's blossom depends on how well the tree is growing over this summer.
